About Me

Welcome to Decolonised Minds. I'm Talha AlAli, a psychotherapist dedicated to providing culturally sensitive mental health support. My approach combines professional expertise with a deep understanding of cultural nuances, particularly focusing on supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds.

With experience in trauma-informed care and a background in both Western and Middle Eastern contexts, I offer a unique perspective in therapy. I provide services in both English and Arabic, ensuring comfortable and effective communication for all my clients.

My practice is rooted in the belief that mental health support should be accessible and culturally appropriate. I specialize in working with individuals dealing with trauma, cultural adjustment, and identity-related challenges.

Testimonials

In January of 2025, INTO welcomed Talha AlAli to speak at a major conference we organised with other trade unions and civil society organisations on the Rights of Palestinian Children. This conference took place in Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin on the 18 January, with over 300 attendees. Talha spoke in our first session alongside UN Special Rapporteurs Francesca Albanese for the occupied Palestinian territories, Mary Lawlor SR for Human Rights Defenders and a representative of the General Union of Palestinian Teachers as part of our session led by experts on the current situation for Palestinian Children with regards to their educational, health and psychological needs. Talha also participated in our panel discussion fielding questions posed by the delegates on the day. In his contributions Talha was clear, prepared and informed. He did not hesitate to challenge prevailing narratives with concise information, practical examples and considered solutions. Those who attended noted that this helped them to reflect and to strengthen their practices going forward. We were very grateful to Talha for giving his time and expertise on a voluntary basis to this Conference.

Service: Conference Presentation

We were fortunate to have Talha contribute to a conference workshop on supporting people who have experienced trauma and forced migration due to war and armed conflict. Talha spoke eloquently and insightfully about his own lived experience and his extensive experience supporting others who have had to leave their home countries under such difficult and painful circumstances. Talha explored these sensitive topics with professionalism and wisdom and made an invaluable contribution to our conference.

Service: Speaker at IGHNx 2025: Global Health Reimagined. Talk Title: Healing Through Humanity: Trauma-Informed Care and Mental Health Advocacy in War Zones

Talha was an invited speaker to our IGHNx event in February 2025 at Dublin Castle, to which he brought his unique perspective, experience and expertise to our audience through an impactful TED style talk. He delivered a highly personal talk, sharing generously snippets from his experience growing up in the West Bank and his knowledge and learning on trauma informed care, Decolonising psychotherapy and mental health. His talk was an important and highly moving contribution to the event, and it was a privilege to host him. His ability to weave personal narrative with critical insights left a lasting impression on our audience, inspiring deep reflection and a powerful call to action for more compassionate, trauma-informed approaches in global health. Throughout the process Talha was displayed professionalism and dedication to the process and we hope to collaborate with him again in the future.
